Dandelions

dandelions… They cheer me up every spring.

If looking at them isn’t enough to make you love them too, I found a blog with

Sadly that amazing and fabulous 40+ link no longer works.

Instead, check this one out

Here are three of my dandelion snapshots:

If dandelions were hard to grow,
they would be most welcome on any lawn.

When you look at a field of dandelions you can either see a hundred weeds or a hundred wishes.

“What would become of the garden if the gardener treated all the weeds and slugs and birds and trespassers as he would like to be treated, if he were in their place?”

Please don’t use pesticides. They destroy people too.

  1. Wow! What a cool post. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an exhaustive list about dandelion uses anywhere. Dandelion tinctures are great for the liver too. Although my neighbors are likely grumbling, ours is the ONLY yard in the subdivision that has a bumper crop of big, beautiful, bright yellow dandelions :0)

  2. A weed is just a plant that grows where you don’t want it to. One of my favorite dandelion recipes is dandelion blossom syrup. I also put them in my “wild” spanikopita and in salads.

  3. I like this site! There are millions of dandelions out by the roadsides now and they are so pretty (the ones who have escaped the roadside spraying, that is). Robert Bly once wrote a cool poem to the lowly “dan-de-lyon” but I tried and tried to find it. If anyone does, please post it here!
