  1. There are safer alternatives to the popular versions of these products… e.g., I love Karen’s Naturals for hair- and bodycare products and have just gotten my subdivision to do a trial of C-Cide (least-toxic citrus seed extract herbicide) instead of Roundup. Anyone else want to test that out, contact me at becca@thechakras.org.

    • Safe(r) alternatives exist for almost everything! And we should probably just learn to live without the stuff that isn’t safe and healthy!

I tried to find info on that herbicide, and details were very sparse from the manufacturer. I would have had to spend way longer than I should have to find basic ingredient info – if it’s not readily available, I tend to think there’s something to hide. The manufacturer did not have an MSDS on the site, just a “spec sheet” that was completely vague. This was all I found:

      C-Cide Herbicide
…C-Cide works by entering the cells of the plant material and disrupting the plant’s cells with citric acid and ascorbic acids as its active ingredients. Once used, C-Cide breaks down naturally becoming food for pre-existing bacteria. Unlike glyphosate and dibromide, there are no residual toxins left to enter the food cycle. It has a proven track record having been extensively tested by Cornell Cooperative Extension. It is currently being used as a replacement for glyphosate and diquat dibromide based weed killers in environmentally sensitive areas.

      From their spec sheet:
      Active Compound ………………………… Essential Oils

I recently wrote about EOs and the dangers. If they can be used as cides (designed to kill) that just goes to show they aren’t benign.

I have to say, I am a bigger fan of allowing goats to eradicate weeds than using cides of any kind!

Science proves what farmers already know: Goats make excellent weedkillers.

  2. A person with chemical sensitivitys has to remain vigilant enough to stop these chemicals coming into their home via products bought from the supermarket, or coming in on visitors. It’s not easy trying to completely avoid these personal care products even when you don’t purchase them, as you know. As for the particle board, I cover it in foil!

  3. I have eliminated a bunch of chemicals from my life and I definitely don’t miss them. I didn’t go anywhere today and only encountered 8 on your list. If I went out and was around others, obviously the number would go up.

  4. Amen! Non-Toxic alternatives are the only way to go♡♡♡

  5. Essential Oil chemistry is natural, although if not used with caution and proper doseage it can be dangerous but it can also heal and yes be used as a natural pesticide when used properly and responsably. Remember that these are naturally fabricated by plants to protect themseles, the doseage is always of upmost importance. Lemon juice and vinegar are natural acids that we use for cleaning (bactericides) yet can also be dangerous depending on doseage or mixing vinegar with bicarbonate causes a strong chemical reaction for example. So definately worth looking into as a ‘safer’ alternative as long as these products are studied thoroughly, used sparsely and responsably and cautions taken where necessary.
That said, we need to be aware of the oportunists that in their quest to ‘make money’ will ‘misguide us’ into believing everything or anything ‘natural’ is harmless!

    • Responsibility is a concept society seems to have lost… or rather made to lose by relentless advertising, insipid tv programming, and manipulative marketing, some of it disguised as news… I still have hopes that people can learn how to determine the truth of what the sources of well-being are, and not chase after the fabrications…

  6. They do their best to make that close to imposible : ( That’s why I’m so gratefull for souls like yourself who even in their struggle to survive use up their scarce energy to keep us all well informed♡ God bless you Linda♡

  7. The real truth of this is that if we had just not ‘TILTED’ our environment to such an extent and trusted ‘mother nature’ instead of poisoning everything and everyone the plants would ‘naturally’ be fabricating their own pesticides, in doses for their immediate and individual needs. Man can’t ‘control’ nature, only make responsable and respectfull use of this ‘gift of life’, but the unrighteous just keep on exploiting and destructing our life-sources out of greed, imposed ignorance and by being misled.

This is the ‘awareness’ we need to have to see the ‘Truth’ ♡♡♡
